Laurel Designs was started over 20 years ago in Laguna Beach by Laurel Wales where she opened her business selling apparel to better boutiques across the country and custom work locally. Through that time she was showcased in the apparel markets of Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago also doing shows in New York and Dallas.


Classic simplicity best describes the conceptual thread woven into every Laurel Design suede and leather item. The look is soft, flowing and luxurious. “Through the years suede and leather has become fine and supple with tanning and dying techniques improved” says Laurel.” Skins have less imperfections, although imperfection is still a great part of the beauty of the medium. It makes each skin unique and original.”

Laurel had previously trained with a furrier in Madison, Wisconsin. She also was trained in suede and leather where she learned from a master craftsman in old world techniques seldom used any longer. She experimented with ways of making seams lay flatter, thus achieving an elegant, streamline look – the distinguishing characteristic of a Laurel Wales design.


Laurel now concentrates on custom orders, art festivals and shows. She has expanded into pillows and furniture accessories to assist with interior designers and homeowners designing around their décor.
